Lose The Blues

Depression is a major problem in the United States. Currently, there are 17 million individuals who have been diagnosed as depressed, an increase in two million in just the last few years. This statistic does not include those who feel depressed but haven’t been clinically diagnosed. People "just don’t feel good."

This does not necessarily mean they’re clinically depressed. Regrettable lifestyle habits, including poor diet and lack of exercise, can stress the body and result in bouts of depression. Smoking plus excessive alcohol, caffeine, and sugar intake are contributing factors. In addition, there are many health conditions with symptoms which include feelings of depression. These include hypoglycemia, insomnia, PMS, allergies of various kinds, Candida albicans infections, exposure to toxins, and fatigue (including habitual lack of sleep, disease, and chronic fatigue syndrome). For example, hypoglycemia symptoms can include depression, anxiety, irritability, mental confusion, incoherent speech, and bizarre behavior.

An amazing 80 percent were found to have a previously undiagnosed illness. Any physical should include a complete hormone profile. Subclinically low hormone levels are too frequently overlooked as a cause of erratic emotional states. In addition, any degenerative disease can initiate otherwise unexplainable mental states, including depression and suicidal ideation. We have to get healthy before we can get happy.
