WATCHUNG, N.J., June 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Just months after U.S. Congressman Bill Posey compared the Center for Disease Control (CDC)’s vaccine safety studies to the SEC’s Bernie Madoff scandal, malfeasance in the CDC’s studies of thimerosal-containing vaccines has, for the first time, been documented in peer-reviewed scientific literature. While the CDC states on its website that “low doses of thimerosal in vaccines do not cause harm, and are only associated with minor local injection site reactions like redness and swelling at the injection site,” the journal BioMed Research International now provides direct evidence that the CDC’s safety assurances about the mercury-containing preservative are not fact-based, according to the article’s lead author, Brian Hooker, PhD.
The paper opens by citing over 165 studies that have found Thimerosal to be harmful, including 16 studies that had reported outcomes in human infants and children of death, acrodynia, poisoning, allergic reaction, malformations, auto-immune reaction, Well’s syndrome, developmental delay and neurodevelopmental disorders including tics, speech delay, language delay, ADHD and autism. These findings by multiple independent research groups over the past 75+ years have consistently found thimerosal to be harmful. “Substantial scientific evidence exists and has existed for many years that the vaccine ingredient thimerosal is a developmental neurotoxin” says George Lucier, former Associate Director of the National Toxicology Program.
What is Thimerosal? Immunize.org says one thing, Dr. Mercola says something different. How are consumers, most with little scientific or medical background supposed to make sense of this? Maybe now we have some evidence to help clear up some of the hype and misinformation.
Studies showing harm from thimerosal sharply contradict published outcomes of six CDC coauthored and sponsored papers – the very studies that CDC relies upon to declare that thimerosal is “safe” for use in infant and maternal vaccines.
Dr. Hooker, biochemist and vaccine industry watchdog, said of the six CDC studies, “Each of these papers is fatally flawed from a statistics standpoint and several of the papers represent issues of scientific malfeasance. For example, important data showing a relationship between thimerosal exposure and autism are withheld from three of the publications (Price et al. 2010, Verstraeten et al. 2003 and Madsen et al. 2003). This type of cherry-picking of data by the CDC in order to change the results of important research studies to support flawed and dangerous vaccination policies should not be tolerated.”
Dr. Boyd Haley, international expert in mercury toxicity and a co-author of the recently published paper said “There is no doubt that authorities in the CDC have initiated and participated in a cover-up of vaccine-induced damage from thimerosal to our children—-and this I consider criminal.” The paper, “Methodological Issues and Evidence of Malfeasance in Research Purporting to Show Thimerosal in Vaccines is Safe,” was published on June 6 and contains eight pages of evidence that the CDC has had knowledge of the vaccine preservative’s neurological risks, yet continues to cover them up.
The paper concludes, “five of the publications examined in this review were directly commissioned by the CDC, raising the possible issue of conflict of interests or research bias, since vaccine promotion is a central mission of the CDC. Conceivably, if serious neurological disorders are found to be related to Thimerosal in vaccines, such findings could possibly be viewed as damaging to the vaccine program.”
Dr. Hooker has submitted over 100 FOIA requests to the CDC over the past 10 years and has amassed thousands of pages of documents showing malfeasance in the CDC’s vaccine safety program. Hooker revealed that one CDC document quoted a top official instructing CDC employees to “Review all correspondences and documents to see if there is ‘foreseeable harm’ to the agency if they were released” so the documents could be redacted by CDC attorneys prior to release.
Barry Segal, founder of the Focus Autism Foundation and former entrepreneur whose company sales peaked near $2 billionsaid, “We are in the process of exposing what may be the biggest federal scandal ever with immense damage to our economy and our people, especially our children who are the future of our country. Their health has been compromised by mercury in vaccines. We need Congress to take action now. Thimerosal must be banned.”
A more effective vaccine preservative “2PE” has replaced thimerosal in many other vaccines and possesses a much better safety profile according to Dr. Hooker.

Poisoning is now the leading cause of death from injuries in the United States
Over the last 10 years, the percentage of Americans who took at least one prescription drug in the past month increased from 44% to 48%. The use of two or more drugs increased from 25% to 31%. The use of five or more drugs increased from 6% to 11%.
These statistics are good to keep in mind next time the media starts fanning the flames about an adverse reaction to a nutritional supplement. With well over half the U.S. population reporting usage of one or more nutritional supplements, only 275 adverse events were reported in 2006, and most of those involved caffeine.
It’s not surprising to see the latest statistics on poisoning deaths in an overly medicated and often drugged out U.S. consumer population. The good news is that many of the prescriptions being written are for life style diseases that we already know how to treat by eating the right foods and getting the correct nutrition.

Investigators Look at the Link Between Geographic Patterns and Death Rates in the New Issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine
San Diego, CA, November 12, 2013 – A new study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine gives new Age Adusted Death Rates from Posioning in U.S.insight into the geographic variation in drug poisoning mortality, with both urban centers and rural areas showing a large increase in death rates. While previous studies have looked at drug poisoning related deaths in broad strokes, this is the first study to examine them on the county level across the entire U.S.
Drug poisoning is now the leading cause of injury
death in the U.S. and has increased by more than 300 percent over the last three decades. Almost 90 percent of poisoning deaths can be attributed to illicit or licit drugs, with prescription drugs accounting for the majority of drug overdose deaths.
According to reports from the National Survey of Drug Use and Health, about 2.1 percent of Americans—or roughly 5 million people—have used prescription painkillers non-medically in the past month. The rise in drug-related deaths correlates to the increase in the non-medical use of prescription drugs, especially opioid analgesics.
While there have been some reports that suggest the rise in deaths has been sharper in rural areas than in urban centers, data to support the claim had never been fully substantiated. In this new study, investigators used small area estimation techniques to produce stable estimates of drug-related poisoning deaths at a county level, which revealed more information about how geography plays a role in death rates.
Using data obtained from the National Vital Statistics Multiple Cause of Death Files, investigators found that in 1999 only 3 percent of counties had annual drug poisoning age adjusted death rates (AADRs) over ten per 100,000, but found that the rate rose to 54 percent of counties by 2008. Additionally, while drug poisoning AADRs increased across all geographic areas both large and small, there was a greater percentage increase for rural areas (394 percent) compared to large metropolitan counties (297 percent).
“The interaction suggests that both central metropolitan and rural areas experienced similar absolute rates of increase in drug-poisoning AADRs from 1999 to 2009 and that these rates were more rapid than those seen in fringe or small metropolitan or micropolitan areas,” explains lead investigator Lauren M. Rossen, PhD, MS. “However, since the AADRs in rural areas were substantially lower in 1999 as compared to central cities, the percentage increase was larger for rural areas over time.”
The study also reveals regional trends in drug poisoning related deaths. “Maps of drug-poisoning mortality over time illustrated that AADRs greater than 29 per 100,000 per year were largely concentrated in Appalachian counties in 1999-2000; by 2008-2009, counties across the entire U.S. displayed AADRs of more than 29 per 100,000 per year,” said Rossen. “These high rates could be seen in Alaska, Hawaii, the entire Pacific region, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Appalachia, the southern coasts of Louisiana and Mississippi, Florida, and across New England.”
“Mapping death rates associated with drug poisoning at the county level may help elucidate geographic patterns, highlight areas where drug-related poisoning deaths are higher than expected, and inform policies and programs designed to address the increase in drug-poisoning mortality and morbidity,” added Rossen.
If enough people raise their voices in protest, we can prevent it. Action Alert!
Remember the controversial diabetes drug Avandia? In 2010 we told you about two FDA drug safety reviewers who warned the agency that Avandia posed serious risks of heart attack and heart failure when compared with other diabetes drugs. Since then, the drug has been removed from the market in most countries and has been under severe restrictions in the US.
About 1.5 million preventable “adverse drug events” occur in the United States every year, according to a 2007 study by the Institute of Medicine, part of the National Academy of Sciences. Aside from the toll on health, the errors cost an estimated $4 billion a year, the study found.
“They say, ‘It’s FDA approved, how dangerous could it be?'” said Steve Pasierb, head of The Partnership for a Drug-Free America, based in New York.
A new medical study found a 76 percent surge over an eight-year period in the number of calls to the nation’s poison control centers because of youngsters abusing drugs prescribed for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, according to an Associated Press report.
We live in an age where every feeling is a potentially classifiable mental disorder to be mitigated with a bewildering array of 21st century versions of Mother’s Little Helper; where pharmaceutical drugs get approvals without including all the trials that resulted in negative outcomes and where nutritional science is shut out of research journals. It’s no wonder people abuse and die from drugs. Given how comfortable we are with being medicated, I’m amazed that not more do.
We now know that the Vioxx risks were apparent years before it was withdrawn from the market. In research published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, scientists analyzed 30 studies, 12 of which were not available to the public when Vioxx was on the market. They have only become available because of lawsuits filed by consumers who said they were harmed by the drug. Yet the same Big Pharma folks who are telling us we can’t have a single payer health system are the same ones who are telling us we need tort reform. The studies involved more than 20,000 people, who showed an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes and hypertension among people taking Vioxx.
And since everyone seems to want to be famous by let me see, faking a balloon launch of their child, or get on Dancing With the Stars, it’s not really all that surprising that parents drug kids for academic edge.
Given what we think is at stake, it just seems well, so reasonable, doesn’t it?.
Is this what we’re so afraid of losing if we have health reform? I don’t think so. Yet we’re so easily misdirected into thinking what we have is the only thing possible. Just ask Neo after he took the red pill.
With over 40% of Americans unconvinced and unafraid of swine flu, and so many forced into bankruptcy from medical issues and over 40% of us have no health safety net except our own simple, natural ability to be healthy, I’d say we’re well on our way to finally coming to our senses. And when we do, we’ll inevitably begin asking ourselves and each other ‘Is It Healthy?”
Once do do, we’ll stop giving ourselves the shaft and begin playing a game worth winning.
